The National Internet Data Centre (NIDC) is expanding access to reliable and innovative digital infrastructure through its locally hosted Cloud Computing services, a strategic offering designed to support digital transformation in Tanzania. Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Leila Masanga, Business Manager at NIDC, said the organization has introduced a 50% promotional offer on Cloud Computing services to encourage organizations across Tanzania to adopt cloud technology. “Effectively from 1st of September 2026, NIDC is offering 50% OFF Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and add-ons for the first two months,” Ms. Masanga said. The promotional offer is intended to make cloud computing more accessible and affordable, particularly for organizations that are considering moving their infrastructure and applications to the cloud. NIDC was delighted to welcome Mr. Diègue Nifasha, Chief Executive Officer of Burundi Backbone System (BBS), and his delegation to our Data Centre on 8 September 2026. Kigali, Rwanda | 18–20 August 2026 — The National Internet Data Center (NIDC) participated in the Africa Peering and Interconnection Forum (AfPIF) 2026, held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 18–20 August 2026, joining leading stakeholders from across Africa’s Internet, telecommunications, data centre, cloud, and interconnection ecosystem. Representing NIDC, Ms. Leila Masanga, Commercial Manager, engaged with network operators, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), data centre operators, content providers, technology companies, and other digital infrastructure stakeholders to explore opportunities for strengthening Tanzania’s digital infrastructure ecosystem and expanding regional connectivity. A key focus of NIDC’s participation was the opportunity to showcase DARIX – Dar es Salaam Internet Exchange, and highlight opportunities for networks and ecosystem partners to participate in Tanzania’s growing interconnection landscape. Hosted at NIDC, DARIX provides a platform for network operators and digital infrastructure providers to establish local interconnection, improve network efficiency, and expand their infrastructure presence in Dar es Salaam. By strengthening local peering and interconnection, DARIX contributes to keeping Internet traffic closer to users while supporting the growth of Tanzania’s digital economy. The forum also provided an important platform for NIDC to connect with potential partners, exchange knowledge and industry insights, and explore opportunities to deepen Tanzania’s participation in Africa’s rapidly evolving digital infrastructure ecosystem. During the two-day festival, NIDC Business Manager, Ms. Leila Masanga, engaged with young innovators and introduced them to the world of data centres and cloud computing. She shared insights into what data centres are, how they operate, and the important role cloud computing plays in today’s increasingly digital world. The event also provided an opportunity for children to showcase their own technological projects and innovative solutions. Kigali, Rwanda August 2026 — The National Internet Data Center (NIDC) visited the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) in Kigali as part of its efforts to strengthen regional digital connectivity and cooperation. During the visit, NIDC held discussions with RURA on digital connectivity and the development of stronger and more reliable digital infrastructure across the region. NIDC also presented its data centre capabilities in Tanzania and highlighted how its infrastructure can support the growing digital needs of Tanzania and the wider East African region. The engagement with RURA provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange experiences, share ideas and identify areas where Tanzania and Rwanda can work together to strengthen the region’s digital infrastructure. The discussions also highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in building resilient and interconnected digital infrastructure that can support businesses, government services and communities. As a Tier 3 and neutral data centre, NIDC provides a secure and reliable environment for organisations to host their critical IT systems, applications and digital services.
